I Am The Power

I Am The Power

Let there be darkness
Let there be storms
My mind is made up
I am going on

To faraway places
To dreams of mine
To fulfill hearts longing
And of soul divine

I’ll lighten the dark
From my spirit unbreakable
I will weather the storms
With passion inexhaustible

Nothing can stop me
I am unstoppable
No one can stop me
My will is invincible

I am powered by my dreams, my life
I create my destiny and I fulfill mine
I am the promise of my future, my life
I am my wishing tree,
My magical lamp am I.

Let there be darkness
Let there be storms
I am afraid of neither one …

My will is stronger than either one.

– Me :)

Kaushik, I agree. It is said that we use only 10% of our brains potential. When it comes to spirit, I think it must be lesser than 1.

I’m a fan of personal power. My favorite metaphors are your reference to the magical lamp and weathering the storms.

JD, me too. I am attracted to books, movies, stories .. anything which talks about victories & triumphs against all odds. Weathering storms is my favorite metaphor as well.

Evelyn, yes I did. I kept re-reading it after writing because I couldn’t believe that I wrote it :) I think this poem tops all other poems I have written so far. I absolutely loved the sentence you wrote. Read it on facebook.

Hi Avani – My favorite line of this is “My magical lamp am I.” I like that it combines the idea of bringing forth light and being a magician at the same time. Maybe they are more related than I think… :) Thanks for sharing!

Zeenat, thank you so much for your kind words. I used to gift my friends with notebook filled with hand written poems. To compile one with poems as strong and powerful as this one would be awesome.
