I use the 80/20 principle as 80% of your time must be on income generating activities while 20% should be on income servicing activities.

Basically I apply the 80/20 rule as much as possible. It's so powerful you can use it in every domain or situation. That changed my life.

My way of thinking is pretty simple: In each situation I try to identify the few that matter and then focus my time and energy on these activities. I minimize or eliminate the rest.

Btw it's so universal Ive decided to launch a blog with the 80/20 principle as main topic: feel free to check it out : unbalancedman.com

I'm a fan of the 80/20.

Here's an additional law that supplements the 80/20 -- it's Parkinson's law:
"Work expands to fill the time available."

One formula that helps me to quantify impact is:
Quantity * Value = Impact

For example, 10 items of a value of 1 = 10. 1 item of a value of 10 is a 10.

I bring this up because I've seen people try to prioritize by simply counting items instead of asking, "what's the value of item X?"
