Great list! I don’t have the world’s cleanest house but everything has a spot so I never have to spend time looking for my keys or my daughter’s shoes. Now I have to get the same thing accomplished with the attic.

Great list Avani - you cover everything that most Professional Organizers would go through with their clients. I call it "finding a home" and ask people: "where does this live?" I always found that once people decide to keep something, acting as if it were alive rather than a thing helps in determining where it will go (like a dog in the doghouse, a bird in a cage, the keys on a hook). I add an “emergency items” section in the garage. Not for real disasters, but when electricity goes down in the night I want to be real sure where the torches are, you know, and stuff like that.

"Productivity is never an accident" ... so true. I think that's part of the appeal. The fact that you can be intentional and produce results is a good thing. I'm a fan of having a place for everything and mostly everything in it's place. I don't over-engineer it, but periodically I do periodic sweeps. During a sweep, I eliminate the little friction spots or unclutter where I can. One problem I used to have was letting books pile up. Hi Avani: I used to spend a lot of time looking for my keys until I found a cute little Mexican “cantina” that you hang on the wall which has two little hooks for keys. It’s right next to the front door of my apartment and when I walk in the first thing I do is hang my keys there. Now I always know where my keys are Thank you for the mention and the link.
