Emotions fascinate me. Since years now I have been observing how thoughts and actions increase/decrease intensity of our emotions. Take anger as an example for this article; I am fascinated to see how by some thoughts my anger subsides and by others it turns into uncontrollable rage. I am amazed how some actions could diminish my anger and some actions, like fuel, increase the fire within me, and burn all routes to constructive thinking, problem solving and rationalizing.

The simple principles of marriage

In response to Unlock Your Mind - A Story From Houdini’s Life, Nivas of Life of Excellence mailed me an empowering story. Thank you Nivas, for sharing the story and allowing me to share it with all of you.
There’s an old Hindu story about where god hid the secret to mankind’s greatest gift - a super power. It goes something like this …

I often remember times when I played video games and had cheat codes which made winning the game faster and easier. I have wished innumerable times to have cheat codes for winning a marriage, to have cheat codes for a happy marriage.
Of course I know that there are no short cuts to a happy marriage. The basics steps of “How to have a happy marriage” have to be applied. But, even then, wouldn’t it be great if there were some tips which made having a happy married life easier; Tips which are easy to implement and yet give tremendous results.
I didn’t have cheat codes for a happy marriage when I got married. But I sure found them later on while living the marriage.

I’m sure you’ve all heard of the great illusionist of yesteryear - Harry Houdini. Houdini was a master magician as well as a fabulous locksmith. Houdini was probably the most famous escape artist in the world. I read an interesting incident from his life this week. I’m not sure if the story I’m about to share with you is part of his legend or part of his history, but it surely is fascinating.
Houdini was very confident in his talents. He claimed that he could escape from any Jail cell in the World in less than an hour, provided he could go into the cell dressed in street clothes. And every time he was given this challenge, he accepted and did just as he promised. He was left alone in a locked cell and in a few short minutes he would miraculously escape.

1. Let go of anxiety
An Indian sage Shantideva has following take on anxiety -
“If you have a problem and you can do something about it, there is no need to get anxious about it because you can actively do something to solve it. On the other hand, if there is nothing you can do to solve it, getting anxious about it is useless — it won’t fix the problem. So either way you look at it, whether the problem is solvable or unsolvable, there is no sense in getting anxious or upset about it. Try thinking like that about one of your problems. Just sit for a minute and think, “Is there something I can do about this or not?”

If we follow the simple steps mentiond below, in no time we will get comfortable with entire decision making process and begin to make decisions with ease.
